Behavioral Directions, LLC Offers 2011 Autism Seminar Series to Celebrate 10 Years of Service
Behavioral Directions, LLC an autism consulting company in Herndon, Virginia announces our “Maximizing Success” seminar series, jointly held with the Organization for Autism Research (OAR). Dr. Jane Barbin, a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Board Certified Behavior Analyst-Doctoral (BCBA-D), set the mission for Behavioral Directions, LLC to promote best-practice in the local area and beyond through direct work with families and community partners.
This year they are hosting a seminar series to celebrate their 10 year anniversary of service to the community! The “Maximizing Success” Series was kicked off with an April, 2011 event on Writing Measurable IEPs and was well received by those who attended. Dr. Barbin stated “Our goal is to build relationships with parents and agencies to promote best-practice for students with Special Needs, so that they may become thriving, productive members of our society. With good intervention and support, much is possible. We are hopeful that our seminar series contributes to that mission and ‘gives back’ this year to those we seek to serve.”
The Fall, 2011 seminar “Using Task Sequences to Increase Independence” presented by Dr. Jane Barbin and staff will be held on October 3, 2011 (Monday) at the Fairlington Community Center, Arlington, VA from 6pm – 8 pm. This seminar will introduce breaking down task sequences (e.g., daily living skills, chores, leisure skills, morning/night routines, full day schedules) into component parts to establish skills and increase independence using chaining methods across the life span for individuals with autism spectrum and related disabilities. Prompting and prompt fading will be reviewed and an interactive exercise will be included.
BACB Type (2) ACE Credits will be offered through the Maryland Association for Behavior Analysis (MABA).
Designed for educational staff, parents, and professionals. Refreshments will be provided. The cost is $15 (advance) and $25 (at door). Registration is NOW OPEN
